Please note we are having to close our offices at 24 Wright Street from Monday 21st May until Wednesday 6th June,
for refurbishment work to be carried out.
We apologise to clients for the inconvenience. We are continuing to see clients who already have appointments.
This is part of a programme of improvements to our Southport office, which will improve conditions for our staff,
volunteers and clients. The work will include creating two telephone answering rooms, so we can build on our
telephone advice service.
There will be a reception service available at Southport, to receive clients who have pre-booked appointments, and to advise how to access services.
Citizens Advice is pleased to announce that,
following representations from Citizens Advice and Ofcom there is
now a new tax credit helpline number for claimant enquiries.
It is 0345 300 3900
It has been changed so that claimants using mobile phones to call the helpline will no longer face high
charges whilst waiting to speak to someone.
The 0845 number will continue to work for another 18 months. From a landline 0845 numbers only cost the same
as a local call but cost much more from a mobile.
However 0345 numbers usually cost the same whether the call is from a mobile phone or a landline.
This excellent news follows on from the success of the Hung Up campaign by Citizens Advice which helped
persuade Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) into making arrangements so that those calling DWP from
mobile phones were not charged at high rates.
The Citizens Advice service helps
people to solve their legal, financial, consumer
and other problems by providing free advice, and by influencing policymakers.
Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity, and more than
20,000 of the people involved in the service are trained volunteers,
helping people to resolve nearly six million problems a year.
Citizens Advice Sefton is the result of mergers between the various bureau around Sefton.
The service has outlets in Bootle, Formby and Southport, and an outreach in Maghull Town Hall.
Outreach services are also available in many GP's surgeries, health centres and childrens centres throughout Sefton.
